Training description
The efficient and purposeful development of indirect procurement can significantly improve an organization's performance and competitiveness. A strong and professional approach to indirect procurement offers ample opportunities in service, project and product procurement related to the maintenance and development of your own organization's operations.
The training program helps participants identify and evaluate opportunities for developing indirect procurement and equips participants with the skills to develop a diverse range of indirect procurement practices. It is suitable for companies of all sizes and public organizations.
The training program consists of five half-day training modules, which are implemented approximately every two weeks. The training takes you through the indirect procurement development process, with each module covering one stage of the process. The participants' learning path is built on the CASE example developed in the training modules.

The experts and trainers of the training program are Hanna Pajunen-Muhonen and Lauri Vihonen. They are a well-liked and highly-regarded working couple who have carried out many interesting projects in both the private and public sectors. The most recent of these was the Best Practices in Strategic Management of Public Procurement study, which was carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, the Association of Local and Regional Authorities and Procurement Finland, and has been published in Finnish, Swedish and English. Together, they have helped over a hundred organizations develop their procurement.
Hanna and Lauri are an inspiring, energizing team that opens up new perspectives on procurement and its development opportunities. They both have solid experience in the private and public sectors, and they both lead practical development projects in both companies and public organizations. Practical implementation
Participatory training program - practical implementation
The training program is diverse, effective and motivating for participants. The practical implementation takes into account different learning styles and offers practical training opportunities and application of what has been learned.
Five modules, half a day at a time
- This schedule allows for shorter, focused training sessions, helping participants stay active and focused.
Two experienced, inspiring trainers
- Both trainers will be present for the first session, after which you will meet them alternately in different modules. This rotation of trainers brings variety to the training and allows participants to have different perspectives.
Discussion and interaction at the center
- The training days consist of diverse, interactive learning, which varies from presentations by trainers, discussions, case examples, expert speeches, and various small group work and exercises.
- During the training day, students work in small groups, allowing them to share perspectives, receive sparring from the trainer, and apply what they have learned in practice.
Practical examples and expert talks
- The training program progresses step by step through a business case. Each session can focus on a specific stage in the business case and participants work on the exercise throughout the training.
- The training also utilizes videos that provide variety and support for different learning styles. Videos from external experts also bring a diverse perspective to the topic.
Learning also between episodes
- There are intermediate tasks between the sections to support learning. They serve as discussion topics for the following sections and promote networking among participants.
