HOW TO SUCCEED IN PROCUREMENT DEVELOPMENT?

Procurement development is based on a clear strategy and data.

Create or refresh your procurement strategy

CREATE OR REFRESH YOUR PROCUREMENT STRATEGY

The foundation for procurement development is a well-developed procurement strategy. It must be aligned with the company's business strategy. The procurement strategy must also be clear enough so that its goals are achievable and measurable.

A good procurement strategy is clear and concrete – it serves as a practical guideline that can be monitored and measured. It is also important to ensure that the implementation of the strategy does not remain just a plan, but is embedded in daily operations.

In addition, success depends on the adequancy of expertise and resources. Do the company have enough resources, skills, and tools to implement the strategy? And how will implementation be monitored and effectiveness assessed? These questions help you guide the success of the strategy and its impact can be measured effectively.

CASE: Developing or updating a procurement strategy

CASE: DEVELOPING AND UPDATING A PROCUREMENT STRATEGY

Building a procurement strategy started with understanding the company's strategic goals: how can procurement best support business goals? The process began with an analysis of the business strategy and progressed through an assessment of the current state of procurement to setting concrete goals. Typically, building a strategy takes weeks, as it involves in-depth analysis, stakeholder engagement, and the development of an action plan.

Updating the existing procurement strategy was a faster process, completed in a few days. The update process assessed the existing strategy, identified the necessary changes, and ensured that the new strategy met both market requirements and the company’s growth plans. The updated strategy gave the company the ability to flexibly respond to changes and take advantage of new opportunities.

How can I help?

HOW CAN I HELP?

I offer assistance in developing or updating sourcing, category and supplier relationship strategies, and refocusing operations. To support the strategy, I help create implementation plans that ensure the goals are rooted into daily work.

An important part of development is also procurement, product and service output analytics, which help decisions to be based on information. In addition, I can act as a sparring partner for the procurement director and other key roles, a facilitator of a strategy workshop or a project manager for a concrete development project. I work in roles that support your goals, for example as a consultant, analyst or support for strategy implementation.
