WHAT SKILLS ARE REQUIRED FOR PROCUREMENT DEVELOPMENT?
Developing procurement requires subject matter expertise, understanding of operations and the ability to change.

CASE: FOCUSING ON PROCUREMENT COMPETENCE DEVELOPMENT
The company wanted to strengthen the skills of key procurement teams and stakeholders to better support business goals. The solution was to develop an interactive program where participants could apply what they learned in their own work.
The program included themes important to the company, such as understanding the economic significance of procurement, developing negotiation skills, improving contracting practices, and ensuring the commitment of procurement stakeholders. Participants deepened their knowledge and developed their capabilities to develop and manage procurement effectively.
As a result, the company's procurement capabilities improved significantly and cooperation with both internal stakeholders and suppliers strengthened, creating the foundation for sustainable development and competitiveness.

DEVELOP PROCUREMENT SKILLS
Procurement development requires strategic thinking and analytical skills that help identify development opportunities and guide long-term decision-making. These can be used to effectively support the business and maximize the business value of the procurement.
Strong negotiation and communication skills are equally important, especially in supplier collaboration. Building trust and finding mutual benefits are central to developing sustainable and value-creating partnerships. In addition, leveraging technology and digitalization brings efficiency to procurement and opens up new opportunities.
Change management and business understanding complement the whole. The ability to work with internal stakeholders and embed changes into the organization ensures that development work produces lasting results and supports the company's goals.
